dear customers,

the year 2005 draw to its close. An unusual year! For the first time in the history of the Federal Republic of Germany we have elected a woman, Angela Merkel, as chancellor. The "unloved" big coalition is on work for some little time now and the shabby budgetary will force unforeseen toughness for us. But there are also other possibilities to set the economy going, without expenses for the government: through the reduce of unnecessary bureaucracy!

The year which left behind also leave its mark on the nourishment line. The consumer is still not willing to spend more money for its groceries. Or doesn't he have another chance because of the aggressive sell-policy of the Discounter? Anyway the development of more consciousness for quality from the consumer with the purchase of food could hardly be realized. Unfortunately you can see also in the spice industry the trend to try to gain customers with lower prices and corresponding qualities. But it's doubtful whether the branch harms itself with it. Growth results especially through bigger esteem and not through always lower prices. Especially the continuos price-pressure leads to scandals like forbidden colouring in spices or trading with old meat. So we hope in addition to the change of year for a change of convictions.

We thank you for the shown trust and therefore that you remain or become our customer. Merry Christmas to you, your family and all your employees. A successful and peaceful year 2006.

Schuco certified after IFS

We are certified after International Food Standard (IFS) since 9th August 2005. Therewith we are in a position to do justice to the highest requests of product safety. In addition to our quality management after ISO 9001:2000 and our environmental management after ISO 14001 this is another milestone in the history of our company.

Marking of allergenic substances

On 25^th November 2005 the ECC-council-regulation 2003/89/EG, which prescribes obligatory the marking of allergenic ingredients in groceries, came into force. The unwilling cross-contamination during storage and mixing

could turn out to be a problem. So please check through your own HACCP-concept if you could exclude the possibility of accidental or unwilling mixing with allergenic substances, or if you perhaps have to mark it. If you have further questions please do not hesitate to contact our field workers or our quality management.

Organic spices -more bureaucracy

Please note that since 1^st July 2005 the ECC-council-regulation 392/2004 is effective after which also companies which only trade with organic spices has to subject to the observation of the organic-control-authorities. Information about this could be requested from us.
