Climatic Change

Everyone speaks from the climatic Change and the changes exerted by it in the nature. We do not only talk about it, but contribute with our environmental management concretely to environmentalfair acting and climatic protection. Thus we received this year in January again the certificate for the environmental management according to DIN EN ISO 14001:2005. Already in 1998 we were certified European-wide as the first German spice mill after EMAS. Faithfully to our responsible guiding principle "healthy food in and from a healthy environment".

BioFach 2007

With 2.565 exhibitors and approximately 45.500 visitors was the BioFach/Vivaness 2007 again an enormous fair-success. It was to be felt clearly that ever more companies are seriously occupied with organic products. If you are interested in, please talk to us! Raw material-Situation - part 1

In a press release the Association of the German Spice Industry say that "the European and German environmental policy, world-wide environmental influences and a partial rapidly rising demand in asiatic countries" affects cost-floating the prices and lead to a shortage of the raw material offer. "Procurement problems and substantial increased prices are the results, so the association. In particular the increase desired of the portion of the renewable energies leads to the shortage and raising the price of agriculture products such as raps, corn and grain. Even breweries worry themselves around important raw materials such as brewing barley, since the farmers rather cultivate the for taxation promoted products such as raps (for bio Diesels) or grain (for bio ethanol). The nourishing economy has serious concerns over this development, since there will be missing

fundamental raw materials and/or they will be only got for high increased prices.

Raw material-Situation - part 2

Apart from the national influences also the weather contributed in the past year to the fact that due to the dryness many spices and herbs are only got limited. Strengthened affects this development within the bio range, which suffers more by the increased demand under the reduced offer. Some organic products are not to be gotten anymore or only at extremely high prices. And also in this spring the prevailing dry and hot weather gives cause for big worries.

Pepper

At the moment the price for pepper is very firm. Accompanying opinion is however that pepper is present in outer quantity in the origin, which does not justify the "high" price level. However the Cultivators does not have it necessarily to sell at favourable prices. Nevertheless we count with a price correction. In this connection "Hot Spice", Hamburg warns, in its expenditure no. 16 from 25. March 2007 from portions white pepper, which does not correspond to the pure food acts. Pay attention to perfect qualities regarding the pepper purchase. Our attitude to offer only low-count pepper black was unfortunately impressively confirmed. Thus the European commission warned in February 2007 in the rapid alert for black pepper ground from Germany, in which salmonella were found. Buy therefore with low-count goods more product security!

Onions

The situation is - briefly expressed - dramatic. Disk onions in good quality couldn't be bought at the moment, The supplies of kibbeld onions retard. Organic onions are quite scarce and expensive. A relaxation is not in view.
