Building project

At the end of November we finishes our building measures. Due to the incomprehensibly long time for the building permission the finalization was considerably delayed. Now we have about 2,000 m² more at our disposal, 1,200 m² of them for the warehouse and 800 m² for the production area. The tough raw material situation (see below) and the constantly rising demand for premium spices required this - for a medium-sized family enterprise - big investment. However, thus we will be able to serve you even more flexibly and reliably in the future. If during the alteration something hasn't worked as you are used to our service we thank you again for your understanding and for your patience.

Fraud with organic products

In the second week of December news from Italy about a big fraud with organic products caught our attention. Particularly flour, fruit, soy and wheat were concerned. Conventional products were bought in large quantities and the labe) was changed to organic product. The fraud has led to first arrests. We appreciate that the authorities take drastic measures in order to protect the organic market from criminal intrigues. For this reason we collaborate only with well-known and confidential suppliers. Our organic spices are still strictly inspected and traced back. Until now spices haven't been concerned by this scandal.

Mace and nutmeg

The statements of the last Nuremberg Spice News are still valid. For these two articles there is no more question about the price, but rather if proper and marketable goods can be delivered at all. Until the end of 2012 we can hardly expect a relaxation.

Prices

Here we have a development that has never been there before in this dimension. Prices are exploding and there's

no end in sight. The pepper price has increased by 130 % compared to 2009. Also most Europaen herbs - due to the bad weather conditions - scarce and therefore considerably more expensive in 2011. Particularly of the Thuringian marjoram about 50 % of the harvest quantity is missing.

Raw materials

lt is more and more difficult to get high quality and marketable raw materials. Therefore we try to increase our readiness for delivery with a greatest possible (and unfortunately cost intensive) warehouse. However also we meet with our limits when deliveries from the country of origin are in delay or when the goods - in spite of accurate choice of suppliers - have to be refused because faults. Unfortunately this phenomenon appears more and more often due to the decreasing availibility of raw meterials. That's why we ask you for on time disposition so that there are no delays in your production.
