Allergens and gluten
Due to internal measures in relation to our new building as well as to organizational regulations we can exclude that it comes to cross contaminations during production process. However, contaminations are to be expected, above all from gluten regarding field crops like coriander or caraway. In our careful control of incoming goods we have thus found contents of gluten — mainly in coriander — where only a trace labeling wouldn't be enough, but the explicit indication "contains gluten" would be necessary. We have refused those lots, however for judicial and for liability reasons we will make a trace labeling. If you need gluten free raw materials for your own products, please don't hesitate to contact us. We will inform you and give you advice.
IFS and Environmental management
In December we were again certificated after IFS (International Food Standard) on a higher level with a result of 98,99 %. The current version 6 emphasis on food defense especially. Due to structural and organizational measures we have already taken important protective actions and implemented them. Of course the product safety and the high quality of our spices will also in the future be in the center of our actions. Besides the IFS also our environmental management has again been successfully certificated according to DIN EN ISO 14001.
Labeling obligation for gluten
When there is gluten the labeling obligation for food is regulated in EEC 41/2009. A product with a content of more than 20 mg/kg must be labeled with the note: "May contain traces of gluten". A gluten content of 100 mg/kg or more must be labeled with the note: "Contains gluten".
Palm oil in fried onions
In responsibility for our environment and due to our sustainability policy, since the end of December 2012 we are supplying only fried onions that are produced with RSPO-certified (MB) palm oil. Furthermore we agreed with our suppliers that from January/February 2013 we will even get only fried onions with RSPO-certified

palm oil (SG) and can supply them to you. SG means segregation, i. e. our onions contain exclusively RSPO-certified palm oil.
Price and raw material situation
From our point of view the price situation will become a little better in 2013. There are already several price reductions to be noted at the beginning of the year. However, we don't think that the low price levels from earlier years will be reached. The high quality demands from the EU rather lead to the reduction of the international harvested available quantities. Even if the available quantities are enough — eg from pepper — you have to expect speculations. The formula "good harvest = decreasing price" hasn't been valid for a long time anymore.
